Barry J. Allred is an Agricultural Engineer with the USDA-ARS Soil Drainage Research Unit, and Adjunct Assistant Professor, Food, Agricultural and Biological Engineering at The Ohio State University. He is a licensed Professional Engineer and Professional Geologist. His areas of expertise are surface/subsurface hydrology, agricultural/geotechnical engineering, soil science, geophysics, and geology.
Brian Bird is a geologist for the New York State Museum/New York State Geological Survey in Albany, New York. He received his B.S. in geology from the State University of New York at Cortland in 1995; in 2000 he attended Western Michigan University receiving his M.S. (2005) and Ph.D. (2010) in Geology. His specialties include glacial geology, geologic mapping, structural analysis of glacially deformed sediments and geographic information systems (GIS). Prior to the New York State Museum, he was a lecturer at Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs, New York. There he taught Earth Systems Science, Glacial Geology, Structural Geology, and Geologic Field Methods. Recently his research study area has been in the Finger Lakes Region of New York State, in and around Cayuga County. Focus has been the characterization of the three-dimensional geologic framework of the thick accumulation of sediments deposited across the area. He is a member of GSA.
Ralf Birken is a Research Assistant Professor of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Northeastern University, Boston. He received his Ph.D. in Geophysical and Geological Engineering from The University of Arizona in 1997 and a MS in Geophysics from the University of Cologne, Germany in 1992. He has over 15 years of research and engineering experience in industry and academia in near-surface geophysical mapping, designing new measurement systems, and sensor technology. His current research interest focuses on the integration of multi-channel multi-domain sensor technology into geophysical subsurface imaging systems. Dr. Birken is an expert in applied electromagnetic geophysics and also interested …
